Biography
Mark Beazley has been releasing music under the name Rothko since 1998, on labels such as Bella Union, Lo Recordings, Too Pure and his own Trace Recordings label. Creating music using mainly just the bass guitar, Rothko's sound has invariably been hard to categorise but is known for its darkly atmospheric sound palette and Beazley's chiming and counterpoint bass melodies. On disbanding the original line up in 2000, he was signed to Too Pure in 2001, releasing the album A Continual Search For Origins, enlisting the help of the musicians from the band Delicate AWOL. Upon leaving Too Pure, Mark started Trace Recordings, and has been releasing his music on the label ever since, the first being Wish For A World Without Hurt, a collaboration with Washington DC based electronic sound artist James Adams aka BLK w/Bear, and the most recent, February 2022's Make Space Speak.
