Biography
Labelled as “Cali’s finest group of rappers since Dr. Dre’s early squad with NWA” by Complex, LA trio Warm Brew - whose name comes from high school joyrides with warm 30 packs of beer in tow - aren’t just your average West-Coast rap group. Made up of Ray Wright, Manu Li, and Serk Spliff, the group’s bond goes all the way back to Santa Monica High School, where they met at the age of 14. Offering their take as the “voice of the voiceless”, Warm Brew’s position as Westside storytellers wasn’t earned only by attrition but by more than a decade of minimum wage jobs, no wage labors of love, and cash-in-hand backyard shows. Summers spent freestyling in the studio together saw the group soon began to earn a coastal fanbase, and by the time Samohi Dom Kennedy heard “Wanna Get High” from the group’s 2013 album The Ride, he invited them to the studio. The result was one of their standout tracks, “Hold On To Her,” which cemented their roles in Kennedy’s OpM (Other People’s Money) collective. Dropping new single "Psychedelic" in 2018, the arrival of the track precedes much new content for the band with an album in the works. “We felt this album is something the fans deserve,” add Warm Brew. “That’s why there’s so many songs on there. We want to give something back to them.” With the West Coast - and the eyes of the rest of the world watching - Warm Brew have become increasingly hot property.
