Biography
From a microcosm known as Netherton is someone still in early days of musical endeavours but by no means a stranger to passion for music: KayFaraway. Kay's music journey thus far spans just over a decade, starting with writing poetry at 12, songs at 17, to the days of nipping no more than a 3-minute car journey from home to work with close friend, DJ, producer & 1/3 of IDT, ROMderful (shoutout to cameraman Milky; the other third of their fam-like collective, who remains an integral ingredient in bringing the vision together). To name a few, Kay & ROM's collabs include Kay's debut single "SoReal?," "10th Wonder" (an ode to a sound pioneered by oft-unsung rap trio, Little Brother), 'Hours After Midnight,' 'OASIS,' and two tracks on ROM's debut LP, 'Press L to Continue.' Kay's source of inspiration is limitless, stemming from several places. Artists like A2, Brent Faiyaz, Drake, Elhae, Garnett Silk, Ma$e, Teddy Pendergrass & Youngs Teflon are prominent stylistic sources of influence on the fiber of what his musically-rich DNA today currently consists of. Drawing from an eclectic sonic palette, he typically teeters and toggles between genres with effortless ease, and you'll seldom hear a Kay song that isn't scattered with film/TV show references. The result? Material void of vapid, wasted bars but compositions full of subject matter based on either biological experiences or non-fictional events laced with intentionally-selected words and sincere emotions.
