Biography
For nearly two decades now Norway has been synonymous with disco music, artists such as Lindstrøm, Prins Thomas and Todd Terje redefining the genre. Now, following in their footsteps, a new generation are breaking through and Even Hymer Gillebo, aka Cavego, has firmly established himself as one of the most exciting. After signing to renowned Belgian label Eskimo Recordings, home to two seminal albums by Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas, making remixes for well-known artists such as Satin Jackets, Astrid S and Blende, and solidifying his reputation with his debut EP, the sparkling and playful ‘Gudbrandsdalen’, Cavego now sets his mark on 2020 with the release of his new EP 'Dovregubben'. Featuring 4 tracks of shimmering, uplifting electronic music that can be enjoyed both at home and on the dancefloor, 'Dovregubben' revels in its playful sounds and shows exactly why the young Norwegian has already been tipped by the likes of BBC Radio 1, DJ Mag and Clash. Where his critically acclaimed debut EP, 'Gudbrandsdalen', was inspired by the beautiful Norwegian landscape that he grew up in, 'Dovregubben' takes its cues from the region's culture with the EP's title itself a reference from Henrik Ibsen's famous work 'Peer Gynt'. The perfect soundtrack to both sweaty parties in urban clubs and long treks across a fairytale like wilderness, Cavego's music reassures us that the future of Norwegian disco is in safe hands for years to come.
