Biography
Asheville based singer/songwriter Amy Steinberg is a folk- and pop-oriented singer/songwriter with a bent toward female empowerment and spiritualism. Born in Boston, Steinberg began studying classical piano at age five. After moving to Florida with her family, her interest in the dramatic arts continued, she began acting in her teens, and won several drama competitions before attending both the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and the Boston Conservatory. During college, Steinberg formed her first band, Sunny Side Up and toured Europe with a production of the musical Hair. In 1997, she relocated to Orlando, Florida, where she eventually formed the Amy Steinberg Band. Focusing on an acoustic sound, the band released three albums including Sky High and 360 Hibiscus, as well as the EP Sex with Amy. Eventually, Steinberg went solo and released several more albums under her own name including 2002's Raw Material from the Ethereal, 2005's Must Be the Moon, and 2007's Fall Down to Fly. In 2011, she released the album Love Divine. Intimate with the Infinite appeared in 2013, followed by Broken Open in 2015. Shine Be Glorious, produced by Ross Cooper, was released in 2018. A multi-disciplinary artist, Steinberg is also an accomplished painter and writer and also performs one-woman shows in which she portrays different characters. When not performing music, Steinberg is the Creatrix of House of Love & Light Asheville, an online spiritual community.
