Biography
Not3s has been defying the odds for half a decade. First breaking through as a teenager from Manor House with a fine line in sweetboy crooning, he played a key role in reshaping British pop music. On modern classics such as Addison Lee, Aladdin and My Lover he fused the syncopation and melody of his Nigerian heritage with bass heavy rhythms to make the Afroswing genre that defined an era - pulling in hundreds of millions of streams and multiple plaques in the process. As many of his fellow Afroswing travellers fell away, Not3s has remained in the limelight, his musical ability unrestrained by genre tags, allowing him to drop hits alongside a wealth of a-listers, from UK chart toppers such as Aj Tracey and Fredo to global afrobeats pace setter Wizkid. Now entering his 25th year, with a refreshed musical vision, he’s matured as an artist. Turning his back on the major label pop production line, he’s instead leant into the West African music that was so prevalent in his youth. As such, Not3s has been taking repeated trips to Nigeria, forming links with the tidal wave of talent currently pushing afrobeats to greater heights. His next run of singles reflects this, with production coming almost entirely from Nigerian producers Not3s lending his unmistakable flavour to beats that draw on Amapiano, Afrobeats & Alté, while guest appearances come from Lagos’s top tier such as Mayorkun & Joeboy. The thrilling fusion that results suggests Not3s is coming to reshape UK pop once again.
