Biography
Yellow Fang has been conjuring sonic dreamscapes of velvety alt-rock in Bangkok and Asia since 2007. The all-girl ensemble enthralls audiences with close vocal harmonies and spacious guitar washes conjuring rock, electronic and shoegaze. The girls – Pang, Praewa and Pym – favor lo-fi charm to digital wizardry. All three songs on their first EP in 2008 went straight to No. 2 Thailand’s premier indie radio station. Since then, Yellow Fang has developed a fervent following of “Fangers,” with a devoted base of young Thai women who find them empowering role models in an industry where women struggle to gain recognition. Despite offers, Yellow Fang decided to maintain stay independent out of fidelity to their primary passion – playing music. In 2011, they collaborated with Kings of Convenience’s Erlend Øye on “Selfish.” The title track of their 2012 EP “Unreal” sat at No. 1 on the radio for four weeks. “The Greatest,” their first full-length album, was released in 2014 to critical acclaim and drew several Thai music award nods. In 2015, the band channeled their pop prowess into “Morning” on Hiroshima-based indie label Stereo Records. The track wove sublime melodies, propulsive rhythms and spacey synths for a full psychedelic effect. The 2017 release of “Kae Peang (If Only)” continued their evolution toward a more electronic sound. In 2018, “Gang” A cover version of YF’s favourite track of Bangkok based underground Hip-Hop act “Young Bong” released under Crossplay project.
