Biography
"Corella set the tone and the bar very high" - BBC Radio 1 "Widescreen indie blessed with emphatic ambition, the results speak for themselves" - Clash Magazine Buzz phrases are often thrown around frivolously when it comes to new and emerging artists. However, when it comes to describing the immaculate rise of Manchester's CORELLA, applying them feels more than justified. Performing together since meeting at university, the band's compliment - consisting of Joel Smith (vocals), Jack Taylor (guitar), Ben Henderson (bass) and James Fawcett (drums) - professes a message of youthful confidence in exploring what it is to grow up in the UK today, meting out the challenges thrown their way with a united front. The music reflects this by blending gorgeously tropical indie-pop tones with emotive lyricism, alongside a stunning live performance that compliments the band's energised delivery beyond what one might consider possible given their young years. These sentiments have earned them an ever-growing rapturous and loyal fanbase, resulting in numerous sold-out headline tours of the UK, and captivating appearances at the likes of Reading & Leeds, Latitude, Kendal Calling and Neighbourhood Festivals. Now poised to release their debut album, off the back of a string of releases that have earned them million of streams, and their biggest headline UK tour to-date announced for October 2023, the realisation of this bona fide North of the UK success story is only set to continue.
