Biography
Named by the Guardian in their 50 Best New Artists for 2020, Marsicans were an indie band from Leeds whose debut album 'Ursa Major' reached #49 UK Pop and #7 UK Indie Album Charts in Aug 2020. Their independent ethos, harmony-laden sound and raucous live shows earned Marsicans a small but devoted fanbase. Sold-out tour dates up and down the UK, including their first 1,000-capacity headline show in 2019; headlining BBC Introducing stages at Reading and Leeds festivals; opening a Kaiser Chiefs stadium show at Elland Road, supporting Foals in Hamburg, touring the UK with We Are Scientists; a string of ten consecutive singles supported by UK national radio BBC Radio 1 and Radio X, all of them gracing New Music Friday UK and other Spotify/Apple Music/Deezer/Amazon editorial playlists; filmed live sessions for VEVO DSCVR and at the BBC's legendary Maida Vale studios; tracks featured on BBC TV's Jools Holland, Match Of The Day, MTV, BT Sport and the opening credits of Made In Chelsea; a Samsung Galaxy worldwide ad sync; and a surprise UK 7" vinyl chart #1 for 2019 single 'Your Eyes'. Marsicans were due to headline the BBC Introducing line-up at South x Southwest 2020's British Music Embassy stage before COVID 19 forced the event's cancellation and the postponement and eventual cancellation of the band's album tour. Their swansong release was 2022's 'Ursa Minor' EP.
