Biography
Jim Allchin is an American guitarist and computer scientist. He grew up on a farm in the deep South, left to earn Masters/Doctorate degrees from Stanford University and Georgia Institute of Technology, and went on to become a world-recognized leader in Computer Science and software. While growing up in the south, he fell in love with blues and Latin music. He has played it ever since. He has written, performed, and recorded throughout his life. His newest album, Costa Azul, is his fifth solo album -- due out in early 2022. Costa Azul features 11 new stunning tracks performed by an all-star group of musicians well-known for their 100s of jazz, pop, and Latin albums. Jim takes us on a tour through the world of Latin smooth jazz guitar music with his newest album. Produced by Grammy-nominee Yaron Fuchs. His fourth album, Prime Blues, is a tour de force in blues-rock produced by 3x Grammy-winner Tom Hambridge. It was recorded, mixed, and mastered in Nashville and features special guest artists including Bobby Rush. Prime Blues remained in the top 10 Blues Albums on the national Roots Music charts for 18 straight weeks, staying in the number 1 position for 2 weeks. Prime Blues was also the number 1 Contemporary Blues Album nationally for 11 weeks. Previous albums have received widespread acclaim, especially for Allchin's guitar work. https://www.jimallchin.com
