Biography
Cuban singer/songwriter Liuba María Hevia started singing and playing guitar at the age of eight, soon getting involved in local traditional music. In 1990, the talented musician created a project to combine different Latin styles such as son, tango, milonga, vallenato, and guajira, recording her debut album, Coloreando la Esperanza, in 1993. Two years later, Liuba María Hevia compiled popular local songs known as habaneras to make a record called Habaneras en el Tiempo, which was released by Cuban label RTV. That same year, Hevia made Señor Arcoiris, a children-oriented album. Nueva trova pioneer Silvio Rodríguez participated in her 1999 album, Del Verso a la Mar. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
