“What Lasts Forever” can equally be interpreted as a statement and as a question. The third chapter in the history of Nyktophobia is another trip through sinister fantasies and dark mysteries of the past. While “Fallen Empire” and “Fate Of Atlantis” lead back to the early days of melodic death metal with a raw DIY-attitude, their new material sounds a lot bigger, due to the fantastic mix and master works that were done at Fascination Street Studios (Amon Amarth, Dark Tranquillity, Dimmu Borgir…). The overall direction of the German band stays true to the origins of the genre, but opens up for more details and nuances than before which allows the songs to create a denser atmosphere and enthralling moments that remain in your memory. You decide how to interpret the album’s title. The same goes for the oppressive but likewise haunting artwork by Russian artist Artem Demura (Stargrave).
