Biography
Twelve-piece Swedish ska-punk outfit Hoffmaestro first came onto the public radar in 2005 when they wrote and directed the independent film Stockholm Boogie, for which they also supplied the soundtrack. The film became a cult favorite and their song "Desperado" was a hit. With their mix of ska, punk, country, New Orleans, and electronica, Hoffmaestro are tough to pigeonhole, though they've slowly built their reputation as a premier party band on the merits of their elaborate, high-energy live shows. Working under the name Hoffmaestro & Chraa, they signed with Warner Bros. in Sweden and release a number of singles leading up to their 2008 LP The Storm. Two years later, a second LP, Skank-a-tronic Punkadelica, was released simply using the Hoffmaestro name and the band continued to build their audience throughout Europe, directing engaging fans through social media and adopting a very D.I.Y. aesthetic. In 2014, they made their American debut signing with L.A. label Side One Dummy to release their self-titled third LP. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
