Biography
Rita Benneditto was born in Maranhão-Brazil, and discovered her passion for singing since a very young age. In the late 80s, she starred as a solo artist and moved to São Paulo, where she set off to emerge as a big revelation in Brazilian music. In 1997, she recorded her first album “Rita Ribeiro” that was soon followed by three more ("Pérolas aos Povos", "Comigo" and the groundbreaking "Tecnomacumba"). "Tecnomacumba", was a project born in performances in a tradicional music venue in Rio that became an indie phenomenon and received many awards. It took 2 years of highly successful seasons for "Tecnomacumba" to come out as a studio album, and 4 more years for its live version. During her career, Rita performed alongside names such as Ney Matogrosso, Milton Nascimento, Chico César, Zeca Baleiro and Maria Bethania, was part of huge festivals such as Montreux Jazz Festival, Brasil-Caracas, Todos os Cantos do Mundo and toured throughout Brazil, the U.S. and Canada. Since 2012, she adopted the stage name Rita Benneditto, a surname that is at the same time a tribute to her father, a homage to her homeland and a blessed name. With the release of her fifth studio album, "Encanto", heavily based on her previous success "Tecnomacumba", Rita was ready for one of her biggest celebrations, "Tecnomacumba - 15 anos de festa e fé", a 2018 project that is reliving the hits that made her famous with a new, modern look and releasing new material, as the music video and single "7Marias".
