Biography

(the autumn) is a Pennsylvania-based Christian worship collective led by Chris Shalter. The heart behind (the autumn) is simply the call to spread the Gospel of Christ through song. Whether on a church stage, in a coffee house, or in the setting of an intimate house show, they use their platform to give depth and bring to light the glory, grace, mercy, hope, and love of Jesus to those around them. 
 Michael Weaver of JesusFreakHideout.com calls (the autumn) “…different from the masses of worship artists and releases from a musical perspective… a nice little reprieve from everyday worship tunes heard on the radio.” Throughout their time, they’ve released three full-length albums, and a handful of singles including fan-favorites “Mercy|Grace” and “In The Stillness.”
 The naming of (the autumn) is intentional in two ways. The first is autumn describing the season of change that we see happen in nature as the old passes on to make way for the new. The parenthesis represents internal. The apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” And so, (the autumn) is the internal change we experience in our lives when we experience the redeeming grace, love, and power of Jesus Christ. After the passing of Ali Roth in 2021, the group took a hiatus through 2022. (the autumn) is returning with new music in 2023, beginning with their single, "Mercy Seat."
