Biography
Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, alternative rockers The Ugly Kings have released their highly anticipated new album, entitled Strange, Strange Times on Friday the 13th August 2021 via Napalm Records. Following 2018’s Darkness Is My Home, which was lauded by the likes of Classic Rock Magazine and Loud Mag upon release, with Strange, Strange Times, the four-piece is poised to turn heads and continues to infuse their foreboding alt-rock with blackened blues and gritty punk edge! The band channels the flavor of groups like Queens of the Stone Age, Danzig and The White Stripes while preserving razor sharp, daringly introspective control with clever lyricism, addictive riffage and power blues flavor. The band’s revitalizing infusion of dark energy is evident, and showcases their ability to distort hard blues rock into dark, unique territories with perfection. Soundmagnet quotes: "The Ugly Kings have a talent for combining different styles into a coherent overall picture.. they actually deliver the right soundtrack for these strange times. This album should catapult the guys from Down Under to the top. 9/10" The band have supported Airbourne with frontman Joel O’Keefe stating: "Great show! The Ugly Kings have really got their own thing going on and it rocks! I love all the dynamics, pushing and pulling and then always smashing it out. Great intensity and power.” The band have also supported Rival Sons, Papa Roach & 1000mods and have headlined a number of sold out shows.
