Biography
“…From distant lands, we hear singing. Glory to the righteous One!” Following in the wake of this prophetic call found in Isaiah 24:16, the story of Scripture In Song is a uniquely small-town New Zealand story - a young couple with a humble idea that took the world by storm. This story, now 50 years strong, is one of changing the way people connect with God through worship — across the globe. David & Dale Garratt along with friends began to write easy-to-sing songs in 1968. These simple songs (scripture paired with simple melodies for memorisation) took form and resonated with audiences and churches across New Zealand and Scripture in Song was born. Since then David and Dale have produced some 30+ albums and songbooks that have collectively sold millions of copies around the world, ushering in a new way for congregations and individuals to worship God and connect with Him. After closing up shop in 2002, Scripture In Song was born-again in 2018 via their first full-length release in almost 25 years "I Exalt Thee" - a collection of the most loved songs from their extensive back catalog. "I Exalt Thee" was released at their 50th anniversary celebrations in Auckland, New Zealand, coinciding with their back catalog of praise and worship albums being available to stream and buy digitally for the first time.
