Biography
Angel, born Sirach Charles, is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and vocalist who has flit across rap and R&B, as well as grime and other club music forms. A native of West London, England, Charles -- the son of keyboardist Tendai Charles -- grew up surrounded by music, and played in a hard-working band with his siblings. Charles debuted in 2010 with a mixtape, Patience Is a Virtue, but he made more of a commercial impact that year with Parallel, his songwriting and production team, who co-wrote Roll Deep's number one U.K. single "Green Light." He released two additional mixtapes, 7 Minutes Before Time and Any Minute Now, and appeared on Wretch 32's Black and White, prior to issuing the anthemic pop single "Go In, Go Hard." That song, featuring Wretch 32, reached number 41 on the U.K. chart. Two more singles were released prior to the end of 2012: the more rocking "Wonderful" (a Top Ten hit) and the contemplative "Time After Time" (number 41). His official debut full-length, About Time, was released on Island in April 2013 and peaked at number 33 on the U.K. album chart. After he appeared in the U.K. Top Ten two more times, as a featured artist on Wiley's "Lights On" and Fuse ODG's "T.I.N.A.," he continued to work toward a second proper album with "Rude Boy" and "Hop On," two of his most R&B-oriented tracks. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
