Biography

Kadiata, one of London’s most dynamic voices, wants to tell the story of the place that raised him. From first glance, Pimlico appears as though it’s a rich man’s abode, with its white painted Georgian homes. Taking a walk further down the road, through the back streets, the layers of Pimlico are peeled back, revealing the council estates and working-class communities that live side by side with London’s wealthiest.
Born in Angola, Kadiata moved to London at age four but while the Big Smoke is the town that raised him, his heritage and background couldn’t be more conspicuous - particularly in the sounds he employs within his music. With Kadiata, you’ll never hear the same song twice and speaks to how he navigates being a first-gen kid raised in Pimlico.
Kadiata is much more than the music he creates for himself but what he produces for others. A longtime friend and collaborator of fellow Pimlico artist, Miles from Kinshasa, Kadiata produced Sam Wise’s breakout hit Rack Up. He also featured on Jesse James Solomon’s Strata EP (2018) - whom he recently reunited with, as they attended the same secondary school in Pimlico.
Now, he wants to tell the story of who he is and how he sees the world on his forthcoming material. By blending various moods and sounds such as Afrobeats, rap and funk, Kadiata positions himself as an artist able to tap into the familiar, but by taking it that step further, with an idiosyncratic and refreshing approach.
