Biography
Hailing from South London, Sam Wise has quickly become one of the most differentiated and exciting artists to come out of the capital in some time. As a pivotal member of cult UK hip-hop collective House of Pharaohs (whose fans include the likes of Frank Ocean and Virgil Abloh to name just a few) Sam has sold out shows across the country and gone on to collaborate with the likes of Octavian, 808ink, Kadiata and more. Meanwhile, his first official single ‘Lizzie’ transcended genre to become one of the most talked about underground releases of the last few years. Sorry You Were Saying includes features from Blanco, Miles From Kinshasa and Masterpeace, the mixtape features everything that makes Sam one of the most talked about British artists of late; witty storytelling, impeccable flows and a fluid approach to genre and tone. Additionally, Sam joined forces with designer Jobe Burns (of Concrete Objects) to create the artwork for the mixtape. Taking inspiration from the structure of tribal African masks, the duo created a sculptural time capsule of Wise as an animated resin sculpture.
