Kayla Rose is not your ordinary artist. Her heartbreak-themed tracks seamlessly blend acoustic with electronic alt pop in a style that exacerbates her lyrical talent and soulful voice. Her poignant & introspective lyrics combined with raw vocal and instrumental artistry make for songs that show a maturity far beyond her 24 years. Though you can feel the torment pouring through each of her tracks, there’s definitely a creativity that spurs from pain. “Obviously, my whole EP, Thief, was about heartbreak, that’s pretty clear. But I think for me, every song has that same expression of someone trying everything to fight for this person and their relationship together. It’s about that internal battle of being willing to give it everything, but knowing it’s not good for you. And the rollercoaster of what you can get in return. Which I think at some point everyone in has unfortunately been through” says Kayla. She first picked up a guitar at the age of six and has hardly put it down since. She added vocals and eventually piano to her repertoire. Kayla had quite the year in 2019, with regular gigs in her home city of Adelaide, and her two most recent singles featuring in Spotify’s New Music Friday.
