Biography
Oliver North Boy Choir is the original long form name of the band now knows as ONBC. Between 2006 and 2009 the band was a trio consisting of Camilla Florentz, Ivan Petersen and Mikkel Max Jorn, né Hansen. Florentz and Jorn had previously had some solid indie-success as front people in the band epo-555 and Petersen & Jorn are also collaborating in their respective bands The Boombox Hearts and Tempo Matador. With Florentz as the main lead vocalist, the guys in the band wrote the songs, produced them and played the instruments, mainly synths, guitars, programming and occasional live drums. Comparisons range from strictly electronic artists such as The Knife, Dat Politics and College to indie rock bands such as Yo La Tengo, Low and Beat Happening. After a few years of hiatus, the band reformed as a quartet adding Tanja Simonsen (Superheroes) as second vocalist and keyboard player. They also abbreviated the name to ONBC. The style became more organic with Petersen now formally becoming the band’s drummer, Jorn the guitarist and Florentz picking up the bass guitar. The band started to perform live, and released their debut album in 2005 now drawing more on both americana and shoegaze and bands such as Chris Isaak, Calexico, My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive etc. At the end of 2007 and 2008 the band’s output was collected in two compilations, where the originals, the covers and remixes were bundled differently. Enjoy the music in the original configurations or compiled.
