Biography

Wang Hui-chu is a singer-songwriter. Many of her works fall into Folk and Indie Pop genres, and she herself sometimes writes lyrics in decisive and sometimes in interesting, just like her personality. When you believe Wang is actually a hipster, she may make a bad joke in response unpredictably. In 2012, Wang made her singing debut with the soundtrack “More Beautiful, More Dangerous (越美麗越危險)” of the movie “GF*BF” (女朋友。男朋友). In 2014, Wang released her debut studio album, A Voyage of Vera (少女維拉), which helped Wang secure a nomination of the 26th Golden Melody Award for Best New Artist. In 2016, Wang got an admission ticket to Sing My Song (中國好歌曲) — the biggest original Mandarin-language composition stage of China at that time — as a contestant in one-man band, ranking third among Yu Quan team. However, as Wang experienced the drastic changes in life and work. Fortunately, Wang could vent her delicate feelings in life through music. In 2020, Wang completed the EP “Dear Sappy”, which was nominated as the Best EP of the Year at the Freshmusic Awards. After a several-year absence, Wang released her second studio album “FAC:E” this year. The source of inspiration was from the progress that she faced herself again, and constantly cleared, ruminated and then output her emotion. This album combines Folk genre, Indie Pop, Synth Pop and other styles. This is an ambitious piece of musical work that Wang FACES herself and turns to FACE the audience.
