Biography
Allison Crowe is a visceral performer and singular songwriter. Home is Corner Brook, NL. Birthplace is Nanaimo, BC. From Canada’s coasts Allison’s taken a road less-traveled to harmonizing life as musician (voice, piano, guitar, fiddle, bodhran), composer, arranger, engineer & producer. "Soulful. Alive. Joyous. Grievous. Real, true, music is what I want to make," says Allison. Via 28 albums, singles, EPs and compilations, Crowe’s oeuvre (solo and with band) nears 200 unique tracks embracing rock, Celtic, folk, jazz, soul, Canadiana & Broadway. Allison Crowe’s toured with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet performing songs of Leonard Cohen to nightly standing ovations. Independent and underground in her ways, Hollywood auteur Zack Snyder flew Crowe cross-continent to cameo in 2013's Superman blockbuster “Man of Steel”. In 2021, she performs L Cohen's "Hallelujah" to close "Zack Snyder's Justice League" #ForAutumn. And, in a duet with Richard Cheese, "Viva Las Vegas" enlivens the title sequence of zombie heist "Army of the Dead". Back home in Corner Brook, NL, Crowe is Musical Director of "Newfoundland Vinyl" – a rollicking hit at the Gros Morne Theatre Festival each Summer. Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador Artistic Director Jeff Pitcher observes: "No matter where she is in this world, that voice, that conviction, it crosses all borders. She's one of those rare artists that fits into any culture, any community because she is who she is – an incredible talent."
