Biography
The Darcys is the ever-evolving musical project formed by Toronto’s Jason Couse and Wes Marskell. For The Darcys, every album is an event, accompanied by vibrant imagery and playful lyrics, with each release they craft distinct eras that explore their creative headspace. The duo follows their two most successful radio singles “Running For the Hills'' and “Washed Away” with the exhilarating "Trouble Found Me," a distorted alt-rock anthem defined by contorted and angular guitars, pulsing drums, and an explosive chorus. About the song’s lyrics, Marskell says “no matter how hard you try, you can’t outrun yourself.” About the production, Couse says, it’s bold, it’s loud, and it’s meant to hit you right between your eyes. Over the past 10 years, The Darcys have released five distinctive and critically acclaimed albums, earning them more than 25 million+ streams, nominations for a JUNO Award, Polaris Prize, and an MMVA, as well as praise from outlets such as Billboard, SPIN, NPR, American Songwriter, and Esquire. The duo’s breakout single “Running For The Hills” and follow-up “Washed Away” have combined for a total of over 13,000 spins and over 42 Million audience impressions. In 2022, The Darcys Inc. Records reached the #8 spot on the Mediabase Alternative Rock Year End Label Share Chart. With “Trouble Found Me,” The Darcys have defined the sound of their next era, and their forthcoming EP, due fall 2023.
