Biography
I, the Mountain is a four piece indie-folk band based in Kitchener, ON. Known for their joyous harmonies, high energy performances, and infectious song writing, the band has built a passionate fanbase of “Mountaineers” from their hard work, never-quit attitude, and genuine love for music and community. Formed in 2012 in the hallways of Trent University, the band has climbed the ranks of the indie-folk scene opening for Canadian staples such as The Strumbellas, Busty & the Bass, Elliott Brood, and Born Ruffians along the way. In recent years, the group has won over audiences at several major Ontario music festivals including Hillside Festival, Sound of Music Festival, Peterborough Folk Festival, Riverfest Elora, Muskoka Music Festival, and more. Their debut album, Little Wild, released at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, explores themes of togetherness, loss, and the need for escape. This release and its subsequent singles solidified their status as true up-and-comers within Canadian music with songs, "The Boat" and "Coal Mine" getting play on CBC radio and amassing almost 300,000 Spotify streams combined. Now, I, the Mountain is taking the next bold step in their journey by bring their harmonies and singalong hits to festival main-stages, small town pubs, and everything in between, all across Canada.
