Biography
No one writes a hit song quite like the Colombian singer-songwriter Andrés Cabas, known simply as CABAS. Hits like Mi Bombón, Bonita, Tu Boca, Increible, La Cadena de Oro, Ana María… all the way through to his most recent singles 'Enamorándonos' (for lovers), 'Tanto Que Te Amo Tanto' (for Romantics) and 'Rompe Los Niveles' Ft. Descemer Bueno have topped the charts all over Latin America and are now part of the lexicon of Tropical Latin pop music. Born on October 7, 1977 in Barranquilla, Colombia CABAS has created a whole new fusion from his country’s rhythms. He has released 7 albums and amongst his many accolades are: 5 nominations and one Latin Grammy, nominated for Best Rock Album and Best Rock Interpretation at the MTV Latin Awards, the People’s Prize and Best Rock Video at the Premios Lo Nuestro and the Acede Prize for theatrical journalism in New York. He has produced, co-produced and worked with Kike Santander, Carlos Jean, the Black Eyed Peas, Café Tacuba, Dave Matthews, Bunbury, Orishas, Vicentico, La Mala Rodríguez, Andres Calamaro, Ximena Sariñana and Juan Luis Guerra among many others. He has composed music for children and is known for his charitable and philanthropic contributions. CABAS commutes between Bogota, Mexico City and Miami. In his own words, he “lives alone with his piano and is in love with music 24 hours a day”.
