    Biography

    British folk singer- songwriter, Pete Morton honed his skills in a series of school-based punk bands, before discovering the songs of Buffy St. Marie and the American 60’s folk revival in search of protest and social commentary songs. He encountered British Folk music shortly after, which led to an energetic approach to traditional songs and influencing his songwriting of global themes . According to British music magazine, Froots, Morton "is amongst the best that the British roots music scene has produced in living memory." Moving to Manchester in the late 80’s, he was quickly signed to a recording contract by the Harbourtown record label, for whom he recorded 6 solo albums and 2 more with folk trio Urban Folk. ( Roger Wilson & Simon Edwards). He was later signed by Fellside records to record ‘The Frappin’ and Ramblin’Pete Morton’, ‘The Land of Time’, and a compilation of older material with Chester based Folk Band Full House, entitled ‘Game of Life’. In 2020, Morton released his most highly acclaimed album to date ‘A Golden Thread’.
