Biography

Madame Kay started in Paris in the early 2000s as an emo band under the name Omni. After playing the underground hardcore scene and releasing one EP, the band consolidated as a Pop Punk band around its three founders Jeremie Galan (Guitar), Jonas Mary (Drums) and Frederic Spitz (Vocals) and adopted the name Madame Kay. The band signed with the record label RCA (SonyBMG France) in late 2005 and released its first album Le choix de la rédaction in February 2006. During the production of their album the TV channel NRJ12 followed them and released a reality documentary on their experience. They toured France and Belgium and released two singles, including Pourquoi tu pleures ? which reached the Top 20 and allowed them to be featured on the TV show Top of The Pops. In 2009 the band went on a hiatus following the departure of their singer Frederic Spitz to the United States to finish his studies. Frederic permanently moved to New York in 2010 and started playing in the band The Johnny Pumps. In 2022, Frederic announced the return of Madame Kay with a new song “Send Me to a Farm Upstate” and a new album to be released in the middle of the year.
