Biography
The pain and realities of Toronto’s Jane & Finch residents have lingered for decades, but it’s also created beautiful art reflecting the resilience of the neighborhood. LB SPIFFY’s emergence from the gruff environment mirrors through his music. Racking up millions in views on YouTube before he even received a high school diploma, songs like “I Love My Gang” and “My Phone” quickly became anthems in Toronto. But as Drake and Kylie Jenner picked up his syrupy melodies with big co-signs, he solidified his place as the next star to emerge from the Canadian city. A musical household rooted LB SPIFFY’s interest in the two pillars of hip-hop - dancing and rapping - but it was purely Soca and calypso that was in constant rotation as a child. Only as he grew up, the influences of R&B, dancehall, and rap began planting seeds for his future. A performer by nature, his entire family was artistically inclined to some degree. By the time he was a one-year-old, parties and BBQs hosted by family friends turned into stages where he’d perform and get his first taste of the limelight.
