Biography
British-born Filipina singer / songwriter Chlara (born Chlara Isobel Magtultol) has been described as an ‘acoustic songbird’ - known for her alluring honey-toned voice and deft acoustic guitar accompaniment. Before starting college Chlara had already started writing her own songs and performing her own unique and emotive acoustic covers of popular pop songs. In particular, her cover of Avicii’s “The Nights”, went on to garner over 50 million Spotify streams. She has also gone on to collaborate with other popular acoustic OPM artists such as, Nef Medina, Paolo Santos and Joe Vince and was featured in evosound's album “Voices of Love” (2011), performing her stunning version of Lionel Richie’s “Stuck on You”, alongside acclaimed pop and jazz singers like Susan Wong, Olivia Ong, Julienne Taylor, Emi Fujita, Stacey Kent, Katie Melua, Chantal Chamberland and more. It then led Chlara to release her own hugely popular cover albums, “In A Different Light” (2014) and “#acousticNOW” (2020). Now Chlara is going back to her roots with the release of her upcoming album “Love Ya” this year, which features all of her own original compositions (bar one - a cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes”) and showcases her chops as a seasoned songwriter - detailing the story of her identity from “girl next door” to a confident and empowered woman through her experiences with sex, love, self and relationships. The album will be her second original album after, “Unstoppable” in 2014.
