Biography

Progressive rock act Brighteye Brison was founded in Stockholm in early 2000. They started out as a trio with Linus Kåse on saxophone and keyboards, Kristofer Eng on bass and Daniel Kåse on drums with all three of them sharing vocal duties. Johan Öijen joined on guitars in November 2000. They recorded and released their eponymous debut album on Rivel Records in 2003 and the critics described their music as influenced by Genesis, Yes and Gentle Giant mixed with Queen-like harmonies. In 2006 the band released Stories on Progress Records. Although a collection of mainly shorter tracks, it was heavily rooted in 70's style progressive rock and artrock music. At this time Per Hallman, the band's sound and studio engineer, joined as a permanent member on keyboards and vocals. Erik Hammarström replaced Daniel Kåse on drums in 2007 and the band recorded Believers & Deceivers which was released the following year. The album was praised by progressive rock fans and critics and differed from their prior work in that it had a track list of only four songs including two epics. 2011 saw the release of The Magician Chronicles - part I, the bands third and final offering for Progress Records. This album marked the band's largest thematical concept up to that point with it's three lenghty tracks. After an eight year wait Brighteye Brison returned in 2019 with V, released on Bad Elephant Music. V is a concept album continuing where the band left off in 2011.
