Biography
Born and raised in East Atlanta (Decatur to be specific), 1PLAYY was surrounded by the negative pull of street life until tragedy struck and made him refocus his energy. The loss of his mother as a teenager inspired a dramatic change of direction. While 1PLAYY dabbled behind the mic very early, he was exposed to deejaying through his friend and mentor, influential ATLien DJ Omezy, who taught him the ropes and helped him hone his craft. 1PLAYY became a fixture in the Atlanta club circuit, where he learned what types of records made the crowd move, what tempos worked best, song structure, hooks…he subconsciously learned how to make a hit. 1PLAYY had enough of grinding, putting energy into breaking other people’s records – now he was ready to put that same energy into breaking his own records. He posted up in the studio and began working on a sound that he could imagine blasting out of every car, every strip club and every dancefloor in the south. World renowned DJ and radio personality, DJ Holiday, took notice recognizing 1PLAYY as an artist to watch. Holiday, who helped break Gucci Mane and 2Chainz, used his industry connections to put 1PLAYY in a situation where he would get the support he needed. Things were truly happening fast, and it wasn’t long before 1PLAYY inked a deal with global independent powerhouse Commission Records/ BMG joining a roster of multi-platinum artists like Lil Dicky, Derez De’Shon, MadeinTYO and DJ Envy.
