CDs and merch @ malist.bandcamp.com Malist is a solo black metal project from Moscow, Russia, created by Ovfrost. The project originated in 2017 as a series of home recording experiences. The artist soon developed a musical concept based on general melancholic mood of the music, minmalistic rhythm guitar-centered arrangements, with some ground for atmospheric digressions. The debut album In the Catacombs of Time was released on January 25, 2019. The lyrical concept of the album evolves around the mysterious underground Karst Realm, with the protagonist on his way to seek answers through its vast and obscure halls. Stylistically it is a mixture of melodic and atmospheric black metal, with some influences from the traditional 90's acts. The debut album was followed by To Mantle the Rising Sun (2020), and Karst Relict (2021), forming a conceptual trilogy. The end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022 met the author with a series of upheavals that could not but affect the music. It was during this period that songs were written for the fourth album. As a result, the darkest and heaviest Malist album, As I Become Darkness, was released on November 11, 2022. Only a few elements remained from the genre of atmospheric black metal, while most of the album could be described as classical black metal with a melodic touch.
