Biography
Rush Sturges has always been driven by an innate need for adventure. It’s a trait that has made him an icon of the kayaking world, and has driven him to create boundary-breaking films. Unsurprisingly, that free-spirited, fearless approach has perfectly translated to his music - an innovative blend of folk-rock and hip-hop that has amassed millions of streams worldwide and has been featured on Netflix, Red Bull TV, and countless kayaking shred flicks. Beyond his adrenaline-seeking nature, Rush is a thought-provoking lyricist - deeply attuned to his generation and constantly seeking answers to modern society’s most pressing questions. He’s a folk singer at heart, but his love of hip-hop constantly pushes him into thrilling new sonic territories. Existing at the boundaries between seemingly disparate genres, Rush sounds right at home, effortlessly tapping into the unifying energy of both styles. In recent years, Rush has begun to devote more and more of his energy to his art. And while he’ll likely never put down his paddle, the microphone has become an integral part of his being. With a steady stream of new releases expected for this year and beyond, his journey is just beginning. Rush’s story is a direct reflection of his experiences - non-linear, inventive, expressive, and progressive - just like his life on the river.
