Biography

Lex de Azevedo is a man with many musical talents. He is a composer, pianist, conductor, singer, and more. He is a famous man in the Latter-Day Saint community in particular for his musical Saturday's Warrior. However, his career actually began in Hollywood, where he served as a musical director on such popular programs as The Sonny & Cher Show, Michael Jackson & the Jackson Five, and The Osmonds. He composed the scores for films such as Where the Red Fern Grows and Swan Princess. He composed five Broadway-style musicals, including the above-mentioned Saturday's Warrior. He scored many episodes of Bible Stories and American Hero Classics, as well as hundreds of commercials. He recorded many albums with his own musical prowess running from jazz stylings through neo-classical works. His work was recognized with two nominations for the Golden Globe, and two records achieved gold record status. He has been a guest conductor with several orchestras and symphonies such as the London National Philharmonic. With the release of Gloria: The Life of Christ, the first of two planned volumes, de Azevedo turned his talents more conspicuously toward the composition of a great oratorio, recording not only an album with Millennium but performed it live for a video recording that was broadcast on the Odyssey Channel in December 1999. De Azevedo is a descendent of the famous Latter-Day Saint musical family the Kings. His mother was a member of the King Sisters troupe, and it is clear the talent was passed on to him and his descendants as well. He shares his musical talents with his wife Peggy and his children, most famously Julie, who has released five albums of her own. He resides in Salt Lake City, UT, with his wife. ~ Dacia A.
