Biography
Immensely popular with Latter-day Saints, the duo Afterglow had humble beginnings in a suburb of Salt Lake City, Utah. The duo actually began as a quartet that included two each of male and female voices. The quartet began performing while they were juniors in high school in Pleasant Grove, Utah. They quickly became popular, performing throughout the area and recording two tapes under the name Afterglow. Then the boys left for their missions abroad and the quartet disbanded. Upon their return, the now-grown men, Joel McCausland and Kevin Peay, decided to continue with their musical careers as Afterglow. In 1984 they were signed by Deseret Book for their first album under the label and have enjoyed a supportive following ever since. Their music features tight vocal harmonies, they often sing original arrangements of popular LDS hymns, and they are generally backgrounded by a full orchestra. They have also performed country music as McCoslyn & Paye. Their discography includes 17 albums in the CCM genre and two albums in the country genre. Their album Warriors of Light was sung entirely in Japanese. Their 1999 release You're My Friend featured Afterglow hits sung in Portuguese and English. ~ Dacia A. Blodgett-Williams, Rovi
