Biography

Samkul is a artist artist from Ogun state born in Lagos Nigeria then grew up the other half of his life in Chicago. He grew up listening to a good amount of afrobeats. His father was Kola Ogunkoya a then popular afrobeats artists, whom in his early days played with the late Fela Kuti’s band. Got started with music at the University of Illinois. He had a two month suspension from playing at his prestigious University’s football team, and in that time he decided to look into what he enjoyed doing most and would bring him the most joy in some years to come. 
 He got more focused into creating music during the period of suspension from the football team at his university. Later realized that alot of the artists that were bigger had a solid entity behind them whom pushed them with some type of capital so he looked into ways to promote and push his music. 
 He later was able to create a media page called WahalaRoom that grew to over 1 Million followers on instagram currently at 1.3Million followers. His music also was able to start reaching more followers as he steadily gain and grew a fan base for his music. His song titled “Slow Down” was able to be his first music video that reached 1 Million views, and was also featured on different TV outlets in africa. Currently he is independent and says “it’s all by God’s grace , good people around me and a solid work ethics” But wouldn’t mind signing with a label if the right offer presents its self.
