Biography

Ramona Sky are a four-piece funk rock outfit from Melbourne, well known for their ecstatic live shows and unique groovy sound. Founded in late 2020 by Chelsea Sharp (Lead Vocals) and Jess Maio (Drums), and since recruiting members Nick Thorne (Guitar) and Giacomo Carbone (Bass), the group has built an astonishing reputation in Melbourne’s live music scene after playing non-stop numerous shows. 
 Inspired by a mix of 70’s rock and 90’s funk, Ramona Sky’s presence is made up of powerful lead vocals and bright harmonies, distinct driving bass lines, funky guitar rhythms and punchy in-the-pocket drums. Inspiration comes from a strange mix of Fleetwood Mac and Red Hot Chili Peppers, although Ramona Sky’s vintage-infused, groovy sound is one that can only be described as incomparable. Their live performances are renowned for getting the crowd on their feet whilst maintaining an ecstatic stage presence.

 Ramona Sky were nominated for Best Group by Music Victoria in 2022, and they released their debut self titled EP in July 2022 which has been receiving a great amount of airplay on community radio stations. In September 2022, the band came runners up in The Terrys Battle of the Bands. The group have continued to play packed out headline shows and have grown to become a beloved local act.
