Biography
Unwoman is a cellist-singer-songwriter who in the Before Time performed at steampunk conventions and major events all over the US, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her song "The Heroine" https://open.spotify.com/track/2YXPX1AIgU1rFFXk4BbXa1 was featured in both Welcome to Night Vale's "Triptych" episode and the steampunk documentary Vintage Tomorrows. In 2015 she received the Steampunk Chronicle Reader's Choice Award for Best Solo Musician and Best Album (Circling, Unwoman's personal favorite album). She has also collaborated with Abney Park, Amanda Palmer, Anthony Jones & Monica Richards, Rasputina, Voltaire, and many other acts. Unwoman's latest original album, War Stories (2018), is her seventh original album. Fiercely feminist and aggressively feminine, ranging adeptly from rage to sentimentality, the album draws inspiration from real life and literature including Jane Eyre, The Princess Bride, and Jane Austen's Persuasion. Beginning in 2015 Unwoman's newest songs have been available to subscribers on bandcamp and patreon as soon as they're finished. A subscription comes with at least one covers album and one original album, access to every song Unwoman has made since the latest official release (over a dozen!) and the knowledge that you're helping a truly independent musician pay her bills. patreon.com/unwoman or unwoman.bandcamp.com
