When Sonic Arts students Aik Ming, Kadir and James got together, rock band FXTRT (pronounced ‘foxtrot’) was conceived and the equation was made complete when Jack joined the group later. 'Palette', their debut EP released in 2016 accompanied with an MV for their single 'Elephants', quickly won them fans. They released their sophomore effort Bento Set A and single 'Maggie' in the following year and in that same year, went on to perform at regional music festivals like Baybeats. From festival gigs such as Esplanade’s All Things New, to opening for Philippines math rock band tide/edit, FXTRT has been toting up tributes. Their music blends a concoction of robust rhythm and tongue-in-cheek lyrics with a sprinkle of mathematical virtuosity. Combined with their high octane live shows, their brand has been with featured in local editorials like JUICE, Bandwagon, the regional Pitchopsticks, and podcasts from Mathcore Index Podcast Playlist. FXTRT is currently writing for a full length release.
