A wild dog chasing the sun! This is the many-hearted music of the swampwitch. Slow-felt swamp rock. Rooted in the DIY spirit of the Canadian prairies, L.T. Leif is also deep-dipped in Finland’s quiet openness, and in Glasgow's charm, where they now reside. The resulting aesthetic steeps Leif’s off-kilter compositions with a passion for drones, synths, heavy bass, loose rhythm, and lush harmony. In 2016 L.T. Leif released the double album Shadow on the Brim / Rough Beasts. The production of the album was itself an experience of openness, spanning the country through collaboration with the two halves of what later became the band JOYFULTALK (Jay Crocker and Dice Parks). Leif’s next release is out this January on Lost Map and OK Pal. It is an album about cyclical healing the sun! And features work with 20 musicians in Canada and Scotland. Leif’s work has been honoured through concert and collaboration internationally, including recording projects based out of Iceland, Scotland, London, Finland and Montreal. Leif has opened for such acts as Destroyer, Tanya Tagaq, and Circuit des Yeux, has toured with Calvin Johnson (of K Recs fame), and has appeared at a few big festivals (including What the Heck Fest, The Calgary Folk Festival, Sled Island, and Treefort Music Festival).
