Biography

Bjørn Fjæstad (born 1964) is one of Denmark’s finest singers with an extraordinary present vocal, spanning from hoarse rock to melancholy interpretations. In 1994 he founded the Danish rock band Baal, who’s debut album “Sensorama”, received no less than 6 nominations at the Danish Grammy Awards in 1996. Quite an achievement. 
 In 2015 Bjørn took a huge, but vulnerable step as he released his first solo album singing in Danish. “Du Kender Intet til Mig” (You Know Nothing about Me) is a very personal pack of songs, showing a different side of the vibrant rock singer. His courage paid off – the Danes immediately took this other side of Bjørn Fjæstad to their hearts. With “Uncover”, Bjørn Fjæstad again shows his bravery by taking on some of the greatest songs ever recorded. Although being true to the originals, his strong vocal and impeccable ability to interpret, he ends up making them “his own”, insisting on getting the listener to listen. 
 “Uncover” is a handful of songs, which in sound and mood, reflects my youth. These 60’, 70’ and 80’ songs bring back feelings of both longing and powerlessness. Although I was too young with no life experience to really understand, my instinct told me that these songs were about me and the life that I had yet to live. 
 As I now revisit these songs as a grown man who has lived life, for better and for worse, I fully understand the sorrows, the longings, and the fragile hopes, hidden in these lyrics.
