Biography

Beside The Bridge was first formed in 2008 when hometown friends Joel Chew (vocals), Charlie Karlgren (guitar) and Niklas Wistrand (bass), realized they all shared a passion for music. They started playing together during recesses and on the weekends. Initially, they were doing live covers of their favorite bands at the time, such as Bullet for my Valentine, Breaking Benjamin, and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. After playing a couple of sets at talent shows in school, the town mall and outside the local burger joint, they became inspired to create original music. Some time after that Ludvig Algovik (guitar) and Dennis Sandberg Nilsson (drums) was introduced to the band and they immediately hit it off as they joined the group. In 2014 the band started posting covers on YouTube and expanded their fan base to an international level. The band had done a cover of "Wake Up", by British act The Vamps, which reached and was shared online by The Vamps guitarist James McVey. This led to Beside The Bridge becoming the opening act for The Vamps during their European tour of 2016, with overwhelming response from the audience. The band released their single "I Hate My Life", written in the summer of '16. Following massive demand from the fanbase the music video was played on MTV. The band was the only artist in rotation without a record label. The band's latest singles "Cool Kid", "All in or Nothing" and "What's Been Done" are all written, produced and mixed by the band themselves.
