Biography
He writes and sings songs, makes podcasts, runs his own label and embarks on regular hikes with De Wandelclub, a recurring event for which he treks around the country's most beautiful places with other enthusiasts and treats them to an impromptu, unplugged gig, out in the open. Tim Knol is a man of many passions, and he'll make sure we know it. Tim experienced his musical breakthrough at a young age. He played at Pinkpop and Lowlands, two of the biggest summer festivals in the Netherlands, received raving reviews and was dubbed a new Gram Parsons. Ultimately, however, the sudden rise to fame and all the changes in his life would take their toll, causing him to hit a wall and tumble down a dark pit. Young enough to bounce back, he managed to get himself together and started translating the experiences from this dark period in his life into songs. Tim bared it all and gave his listeners a deeply personal look into his psyche, while they grew with him. Flash-forward to 2023, to a newborn Tim who has reinvented himself. For his new album Long Live Your Friends he took a different approach, utilizing sparse demos from his phone, often recorded at home, in dressing rooms, on stage or on the road. These were then fleshed out into full-fledged songs with the help of producer and friend Sam Verbeek, who rounded out the tracks and really brought them to life.
