Biography

With her bewitching voice and warm rhythms, Bïa links the cultures of the places that have shaped her, including her native Brazil, France and Quebec. A prolific and melodic songwriter, she is best known as a singer, and often translates lyrics by leading artists into her various languages: Félix Leclerc into Portuguese, Chico Buarque into French, Georges Brassens into Spanish… Strong, true and evocative, her voice wraps around the nuances of fragile emotions and fleeting experiences. She regularly performs in duet with other artists (Lhasa, Yves Duteil, Georges Moustaki, Gianmaria Testa, Bénabar) and lends her multicultural flair to compositions for other voices, notably those of Henri Salvador and Yves Desrosiers.
