Biography
Michał Szpak was born on 26th November 1990 in Jasło. At 9 he performed on a real stage for the first time. He received an award in the Young Talents Competition at the Jasło Community Centre. In 2011 Michał Szpak took part in the X-Factor talent show – he performed a song in the finale together with the British edition’s winner, Aleksandra Burke, who has seen few artists with such vibrant image and innate charisma even in the excellent British market. As a result, he received an additional special award – an invitation to give a concert at the Orange Warsaw Festival, where he performed before, among others, Skunk Anansie and Moby, singing three songs from the repertoire of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns’n’Roses and Lenny Kravitz. At the beginning of 2015 he started working on his new music material and in November of 2015 released an album “Byle Być Sobą” (Just Be Yourself). The record includes 12 stylistically different songs, which reflect the artist’s fascination with the 80s and 90s music and even his love of symphonic music. On 5th March 2016 Michał Szpak, with his song “Color of Your Life”, won the Polish pre-selection to the Eurovision Song Contest, held in May 2016 in Stockholm. He defeated Edyta Górnia, who took part in this year’s pre-selection and represented Poland in 1994 at the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin, winning 2nd place.
