Biography
Contemporary gospel artist Desmond Pringle -- a tenor vocalist -- has served as a pastor, worked as an A&R executive, and has written, produced, and recorded with well over a dozen of his contemporaries. Raised in a Pentecostal household in Charleston, South Carolina, Pringle was active in church and took roles in several gospel musicals. After an early-'90s move to Chicago, he entered the music industry by writing material for T.D. Jakes and Rev. Clay Evans. Additionally, he recorded with Yolanda Adams and Twinkie Clark, and is among the voices heard on R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly." Pringle's own albums have been few and far between. The self-released Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs (1999), recorded live in a Chicago studio on the National Day of Prayer, was his debut. Each recording that followed made an impact on Billboard's gospel chart. Loyalty (Tommy Boy, 2001), his most successful release, peaked at number nine and was followed with Be Still (Central South, 2006) and Fidelity (Kingdom, 2013). During the latter half of the 2010s, as he continued to work with other artists, Pringle released singles such as "Let's Adore Him" and "Get Us Through." ~ Andy Kellman
