Biography

“The finest country rock band on the planet” #8 BEST AMERICANA ALBUMS OF 2018 – MOJO “One of California’s unique treasures” – Dave Alvin Formed in 1999 by Rob Waller and brothers Paul and Anthony Lacques during a philosophical discussion and rock throwing session on an East Mojave desert trek, I See Hawks In L.A. first gathered on the front porch in Echo Park, Los Angeles, drank whiskey, and began writing their endless rich stream of songs. The Hawks have garnered a fiercely loyal following around the globe, with years of U.S., UK, and Euro touring, consistently rave reviews, and a serious presence in the top 10 of the Freeform American Roots chart (#1 four times), the Americana Chart, and the Euro Americana chart (Top 10 four times). Their live show lights up the stages from their own Highland Park perch to Stagecoach in the Coachella desert, to the Carolinas and the roots festivals of UK and Europe. The Hawks are noted for their lyrical celebrations and lamentations of earth and ecosphere, odes to the endless highway, and wry social commentary. Rob Waller's soulful baritone is augmented by rich three part harmonies, and traditional yet very experimental electric and steel guitar textures from Paul Lacques, layered with fiddle, dobro and accordion. Bassist and vocalist Paul Marshall (Strawberry Alarm Clock, Wanda Jackson), brings a deep understanding of Americana from bluegrass to psychedelic country rock, to the Hawks landscape. www.iseehawks.com
