Biography
Fools Like Me originates when Eric Coughanour decides to record a series of songs stemming from a breakup. The result was Vampires in My Head, an introspective album that probes the yearning of a broken heart in a constant state of melancholy. All tracks were recorded at Eric's house during November, 2015. The album is a co-production between Eric and Manuel Calderón ( Comanche Sound, The Chamanas, Estereomance). Acid Western influence Eric: Not long ago, as I worked on the songs that became part of the second album "The Charmer" I realized that I insisted on a guitar style and sound that I could not figure out where it came from. As I came to re-encounter with one of my all-time favorite movies "Dead Man" by Jim Jarmush I instantly realized how much Neil Young's improvised-guitar soundtrack had a mark on me. Dark echoed guitars (Vampires in My Head, Beginning to End), theremin sounds ala Morricone's Spaghetti western's music (Once Upon a Time), raw synth sounds (Wither or Thrive) and trip hop laid-back tempos (Foreign Language) are some of the elements that define the sound of Fools Like Me. Second album, The Charmer, released on October 18, 2019 pays tribute to 60s-70s psychedelic rock (I Still Belong to You, The Charmer) as well as to the Acid Western genre (No Safari).
